The Commission in partnerships with UN-WOMEN seeks to prevent and counter radicalisation and violent extremism through the establishment of women’s civil society and practitioner networks in the counties of Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa, Wajir and Mandera. To achieve this, a database of women in the civil society and practitioners working on countering violent extremism (CVE), peace and security has been established.

This is aimed at enhancing the capacity of women on CVE; providing platforms for cross-learning, and sharing experiences on tackling drivers of radicalisation; as well as establishing functional linkages and networks among the trained women civil society, practitioners and key stakeholders in the respective counties.

The Commission is therefore conducting a series of trainings, with the first two having been held in Mombasa and Kilifi Counties, on 14th and 30th September, 2016 respectively. Targeted participants for the training were; representatives from nyumba kumi committees, sub county peace committees, FBOs, CSOs, Maendeleo ya wanawake, women groups, and women-led youth organisations.
