The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) led by Vice Chairperson, Ms. Wambui Nyutu, joined The Standard Group Mentorship Academy at its 2nd graduation ceremony on 19th April 2024 at Panari Hotel Nairobi. The event brought together 30 mentees and 26 mentors. The mentorship academy was formed to support Standard Group staff members to enhance their skills to prepare and propel them for higher roles so they excel in their personal and professional development. The Standard Group Women Network(SGWN) was established in October 2018 to articulate the voices of women in the workplace and position them for greater impact in society. Since its inception, it has valued and supported developing leadership skills among women in the media, creating a positive work culture, and improving employee retention so that they become better leaders. Former president of SGWN, Queenter Mbori spoke of the incredible dedication and perseverance demonstrated by the mentors and mentees during the learning process. In her opening remarks, NCIC Vice Chairperson, Ms. Wambui Nyutu said, “As you graduate from this program, armed with invaluable knowledge in media, business, and technology, embrace technology. It's not just about the latest gadgets, it's about using data to understand your audience, about leveraging social media to connect with people on a deeper level, and finding innovative ways to tell stories.” The NCIC Vice Chair reminded mentees that through their work, they have the power to bridge divides, promote understanding and build a more cohesive society. “Use your skills to tell stories that unite us, that celebrate our diversity, and that inspire hope for a brighter future,” she said.

On behalf of the mentees, Ms. Nicole Amollo shared insights into their journey. “This journey has been nothing short of transformative. Each of us embarked on this path with unique aspirations, but together, we’ve forged bonds, shared wisdom and grown exponentially.” “As we graduate, let us carry forth the lessons learnt, the friendships forged and the dreams ignited. May we continue to inspire and uplift one another, knowing that together, we can achieve greatness.”

The mentees were presented with certificates, symbolizing not just the end of a journey but the beginning of a new chapter filled with endless possibilities. The Standard Group Mentorship Academy, mentors and mentees during the graduation ceremony on 19th April 2024 at the Panari Hotel
