A vibrant Kulphi Elfatu Peace and Cultural Festival Fiesta united diverse communities at the Moyale Teachers Training College in Odda on 1st March, 2025. Organized by local women groups from the Borana and Gabra communities, the festival celebrated cultural heritage as a powerful tool for peace and reconciliation. NCIC Commissioner Hon. Abdulaziz Farah and Deputy Director Peacebuilding and Reconciliation, Mr. Liban Guyo highlighted the importance of collaboration in peacebuilding. Community representatives including elders from various ethnic groups engaged in discussions on conflict resolution and resource sharing, showcasing the festival's inclusive spirit. The event not only honored cultural diversity, but also emphasized the significant role of women-led initiatives in fostering lasting peace for a harmonious future.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) attended the festival, represented by Commissioner Hon. Abdulaziz Farah and Mr. Liban Guyo, the Deputy Director of Peace Building and Reconciliation. Their presence underscored the Commission’s commitment to promoting social cohesion and collaborative peacebuilding efforts in the region.

The festival attracted a wide array of participants, including the sub-county security committee led by the Assistant County Commander Kipkeu Chelimo, the region’s peace committee, and council of elders from various ethnic communities. The Borana community was represented by Abdulkadil Waqo, while the Gabra community was represented by Nuro Mahad. The Burji community was present through Abdi Aila, and the Gareeh community was also duly represented by Issack Adan Guracha, showcasing the festival's inclusive nature and the desire for unity across cultures.

One of the festival's key messages was the importance of collaboration in peacebuilding efforts. Commissioner Hon. Abdulaziz Farah noted in his remarks, "this festival embodies the spirit of partnership and dialogue. It demonstrates that when we come together, we can harness our cultural diversity to build lasting peace and forge a common path towards reconciliation."
